Result!

My sisters girlfriend has told me about her friend who is looking for a face painter for childrens parties, its 2 hours Saturday and Sunday and they pay is awesome! can`t wait to add that to my portfolio.

This week at college.

Monday was mainly a catch up day, so I modelled for one of the students and in turn she will model for me for my theatre assessment. Then on Wednesday morning some of are class had the opportunity to work with children aged 10/11 from a local school. We had to show them how to do a special effect cut on are hands which was handy for me as I have been offered a small job doing face painting for parties in January with children. Now today we are just doing a catch up day as this for some maybe are last day in essential skills.

So far I have to still complete my theartre makeup assessment, both female and male. I have just completed my halloween face painting assessment on monday and burn victim assessment. My accident victim assessment is due next week and I`m hoping I will pass with flying colours plus hair assessments to be completed.

Makeup for skin conditions.

Every makeup brand has a product that will provide a great result for lots of skin conditions, its all about finding that brand that will suit you. From price, effective result and lasting effect. People with acne will find a liquid based foundations to have a great result and brands such as the body shop provide excellent products for skin types that may be very sensitive to chemicals or skins that are allergic to chemicals and products within other makeup brands. There are so many products on the market right now for all different skin types that finding one to suit you and your condtion is relatively easy.

The History Of Wigs.

Wigs have dated back as far back as the Egyptians as a indication of a persons status as well as their role in society and politics. With a risk of infestation of lice this was also a reason to shave your hair and wear wigs. There where also other benefits to shaving off your hair and wearing wigs such as having a bald head in scorching hot weather would be much more comfortable than having a full head of hair but also wearing a wig would protect a bald head from being sun burnt. Egyptians though preferred to wear wigs resulting in there creation of human, sheep wool and vegetable fibre wigs, depending on there social status. Female wigs where decorated with different hair accessories such as hair-rings and ivory ornaments and have braids. The more fancier the wigs the higher status you where.

Although there where other societies and cultures who wore wigs, Egyptians are well known for there makeup choices and wig creations. Today wigs are used in pop culture, fashion and performance. Depending on your budget and reason there are cheap synthetic wigs for such things as halloween and school plays and then real hair wigs made for movie stars and performers which can cost hundreds.

The four capacities of Curriculum for Excellence (CfE)

The four capacities of Curriculum for Excellence are to enable each child or young person to be a successful learner, a confident individual, a responsible citizen and an effective contributor.

In college I use the four capacities by trying my best in each class and setting myself goals in achieving a positive result in class. Also building up confidence with others by interacting with other students and doing the makeup skills being taught on models and other students in and out of the college. I am responsible I feel in the sense that I treat the college with respect and abide by the college rules and being a effective contributor by getting involved in college events.

I feel the four capacities would be carried out in the same way in each class. Successful learning would be carried out by listening to what the lecture is saying, watching the skills being handed out and carrying out each task effectively and correctly. Working with others, models and other students in and out the college will build up confidence with working with strangers and the best way to approach different personalities and backgrounds. The skills being shown and then practised will build up confidence in your practical skills too. Being a responsible citizen in class will consist of looking out for each other and taken care of the college equipment, cleaning up after yourself and being responsible for finishing assessments and tasks carried out in class. Keeping your area of work tidy and cleaning equipment after use and getting involved in the activities such as fund raising activities if a sure way of being a effective contributor.

My overall experience so far at James Watt College has been great. I have learned so much so far and has made me grow more as a person and learned to take responsibility.

Recreating Halloween Chracters.

Bride of Frankenstein.

For me to recreate the Bride of Frankenstein I would first of all apply a white foundation on the face and to the rest of the exposed skin. Then I would use a translucent powder on the face to Matt out the skin. I would then use false eyelashes to enhance the eyes, black contact lenses and a black lipstick. For the eyebrows I would just use a simple eyebrow pencil (black) and draw a thin brow line but point it upwards above the temple. The scars under the jawline. I would just use special effect makeup. When  it comes to the hair I would either just use a wig or if I was on a budget I would backcomb the hair and crimp to create a frizz effect and pull the hair away from the face. For colour I would just use a black spray if the hair is not already dark and use white spray for the white streaks of the hair and do a finger wave for the white streaks. The outfit would either just be a costume or a long white dress.

Izabella Miko in Mr Brightside music video.

First I would use a primer on the skin then use a pale foundation to create porcelain skin and then use a powder that will highlight and give a healthy glow to the skin. Then use Benefits high beam on the brows and cheeks bone to highlight those areas even more. I would use subtle eyelashes and subtle eyeshadow and highlighter to brighten the eyes for a standout effect without looking like the model if wearing alot of eye makeup and to open up the eyes I would put with eyeshadow on the outside of the corners of the eyes to make them appear larger. I would just use a light eyebrow pencil and use a light pink blusher. For the lips I would just use a natural pink shade. For the hair if the models hair is dark then I would just apply a wig but of the models hair is very light almost white blonde then I would just back all of the hair to create a sort of Afro effect. I would just create a floaty white and green dress, nearly floor length with fabrics from a local fabric store and have some vintage heels, nude stockings and pearls.

Charlie Chaplin.

I would just Matt out the skin with white foundation and powder and give depth to the cheeks bones by using grey face paint and blending, to try and capture that black and white theme. I would use a back eyebrow pencil and make the eyebrows black and thick and use black eyeshadow under the eyes and a little mascara to open up eyes, plus use very dark brown contact lenses and apply a Charlie Chaplin moustache. For the hair I would slick it back with hair gel and have the model wear a bowler hat and a all black suit, white shirt, black bow and shoes.

My Three Fantasy Characters.

The White Queen from Alice and Wonderland.

The way I would recreate this look would probably start with making all the exposed skin very pale to the point of being white then make the eyebrows very dark with a eyebrow pencil and only adding a small amount of mascara to the eyes. Then apply a very dark lip for a stand out look. Then give the model a long white/blonde wig and a pale lacey dress and pearls.

Edward Scissor Hands.

I would first start with some special effects I would create cuts with latex but add no colour just to build texture as the cuts will be covered by makeup to make it look like old scars. Then I would use Natural Plasto Wax to cover the eyebrows. I would then use a foundation that is a little pale and go over the scarring effect and Plasto Wax and the whole face. After this I would use a Matt powder to Matt out the face and stop any shine and small amount of brown blusher under the cheek bones to create depth in the face. Then I would use a brown Matt eyeshadow under the eye to create a dark circle effect and apply a darker shade on the top lid up to the brow bone. I would use a dark Matt lipstick and black contact lenses I would avoid applying any mascara as I want the contact lenses to be the main focus. To finish it off I would use a black matted wig and Edward Scissor Hands costume.

Pirates of the Caribbean Mermaid.

I would apply a natural foundation and keep the skin as natural as possible I would apply a small amount of mascara to the eyes to enhance the eyes. Then I would use a light green, almost white eye contacts and use vampire fangs on the teeth. For scales I would use some clear and aqua coloured sequins and improvise with eyelash glue to stick them on the forehead, cheeks and arms. When it comes to the hair I would just keep it straight and slick it back using hair jell and hair spray. For a costume I would either go to a local costume shop or I would use a skin coloured leotard and floor length, tight fitted skirt either blue or green and attach the same sequins to that.

The History Of Makeup.

Makeup has been around for a very long time. The first people to establish it as an important part of culture and beauty where the egyptians the used natural sources such as unguent and kohl. The romans also ould use makeup to inhance there beauty too, they would tend to pale out there skin. During the middle ages the Europeans would use makeup to pale out there skin which would show a sign of wealth and stature in society.

Makeup Brands I love!

L`OREAL Volume Million Lashes.

I was always trying to look for a great mascara that would stay and not melt down my face and wouldn`t flake and basically would do what it said it would do. This mascara is brilliant! for me it does what it says it really opens up my eyes and with the Extra Black L`OREAL Volume Million Lashes which I use the most it give that intense black effect and gives alot of volume by far the best mascara I have used and will continue to use! This mascara is priced round £5/£9 total bargain if you ask me.

GOSH Porcelain Foundation.

I was introduced to this by a friend who uses it too I found it really hard to find a pale foundation because every other brands palest foundations against my skin still looked too dark. This foundation is great its the palest foundation I have found so far and it gives me a great coverage.

L'Oreal Paris Studio Secrets Smoothing Primer
L'Oreal Paris Studio Secrets Smoothing Primer.

I wear this product as a base for my makeup it applys on very well and gives a great smooth surface for your foundation to go on evenly. Its a small pot and pricey but worth the money as it has lasted me a long time! its £14.29.

Rimmel Exaggerate Liquid Eyeliner.

Rimmel Exaggerate Liquid Eye Liner Black
I tend to wear eyeliner alot and I love to do a 50`s style flick at the end of each eye so finding a good eyeliner with a good brush was a must! This is the best one I have found so far its tricky at first but the effect is really good and usually you only need to apply one coat. It lasts a long time so its good value for money.

Topshop Lipstick, Rumour Has It.

I like this lipstick shade for casual makeup and going out makeup, it goes well with heavy eye makeup or just a light eye makeup. I also think it compliments my dark hair too.

Style Icons

One of are homework pieces was to write about what people inspired us and who we felt was a style icons for us these are my choices.

Dita Von Teese.
She is a big icon for me as shes not just about appealing to men but to inspire and teach women how to be body confident. I love her stand out style and presence. she proves that having black hair a pale skin can still be a striking and sexy look for women to be inspired by and men to drool over. Ditas style when not performer also in cases the fact that wearing less and showing lots of skin isn't always sexy. She proves that dressing classy/sexy can work very well.

Courtney Love.
When Courtney Love gets it right she is a knock out. she embodies           the grunge look very well. By driving away from that pretty typical girly look she proves that teaming a pretty dress with boots and messy hair and a red lip can be very cool. I find the grunge look very cool and appealing for me personally and love the makeup styles.

Betty Page.
I love Betty Page because she isn't your typical stick thin girl she has curves and know how to show them! I love her hair style and have copied it in a small way. Her style again is not the stereotypical beauty you see today and I'm a big fan of the old school look she has a dark naughty look which I think is very cool.

Elizabeth Taylor.
With her dark hair and iconic makeup its a obvious choice that Elizabeth Taylor is a icon for me. For these women provide me proof that you don't have to be blonde and tanned to be beautiful, she was one of the most beautiful women in the world and lived life and love to the fullest even though having medical issues which I feel is inspiring.

Cat Von D.
I love her cool personality and her over all look. I respect that she has made a name for herself with her art and skill in a job where tattooing is very much a make dominated world. I'm a big fan of tattoos and hope to continue getting more tattoos but maybe not as much as her! I love her Gothic/alternative style and her makeup choices. I love her dark makeup but also like how she plays with makeup by applying a different colour eyeshadow on each lid. It shows that she doesn't take herself too seriously.

Christina Hendricks.
She shows in today's society that curves are still very sexy, I love her look in Mad Men. I find it very inspiring that a shes not shy in showing her curves in a celebrity world where being thin is what dominates. I love her red hair and pale skin. She looks like a very natural looking women.
